The Arctic can certainly provide a few, such as racing high-performance cars across frozen lakes and witnessing the northern lights from a glass igloo, or on your very own Lofoten island.

Heli-skiing in the Lyngen Alps combines dramatic alpine peaks with pristine fjord-side descents. After a helicopter ride over the mountains, skiers are dropped onto untouched powder for exhilarating runs down steep couloirs, or a calmer journey, down more gentle slopes. It’s a great way to explore the region’s pristine wilderness and enjoy panoramic views of the surrounding fjords.

Adventure continues in Africa. The Great Migration is one of nature’s most remarkable spectacles, with more than a million wildebeest, zebra and other wildlife moving across the Serengeti and Masai Mara to follow the seasonal rains. This is their annual ‘safari’ (the word meaning ‘long journey’ in Swahili). Climate change has resulted in variable rain patterns, meaning that witnessing this splendour is not as guaranteed as it once was, but often one can be lucky. If that is not so much your thing, Tanzania is paradise for up close encounters with the big five, as well as being home to some of the most luxurious lodges and tented camps on the continent.

Mongolia is a place where raw nature, rich nomadic culture and endless adventure combine. It is home to Przewalski’s horses, snow leopards, Bactrian camels and vast migratory herds of gazelle.
